Ah, spring. We’re past the April showers, which not only bring May flowers – they also bring the wedding season! So, if you're having a spring wedding, you've certainly chosen the best time to pick out florals. You're going to have your pick of the garden!
But having so many options can be overwhelming, especially if you’re the type to have a mood board or a wedding-dedicated Pinterest page. You want something that speaks to you and your vision. And, luckily, spring offers you such a wide variety of flowers that you don’t have to feel limited.
Let’s work together to narrow things down so you don’t have to feel overwhelmed by the rest of your wedding responsibilities. Instead, let’s give you a comprehensive breakdown of how to choose May flowers nuptials for spring nuptials.
Forest of Flowers will walk you through the trendiest flowers for spring nuptials.
These delicate blooms make wonderfully regal bouquets and a great centrepiece if you want something smaller and dainty. They have a beautiful fragrance and are very popular during the spring season. These small white flowers represent sincerity, apologies, purity, and innocence, making them perfect for the wedding season.
However, if you can’t find lily of the valley, don’t fret. You can always opt for white lilies and other small blooms, such as mini carnations or spray roses. While these blooms are not exactly the exact same as the lily of the valley, they are still a stunning option that can capture a very similar look and feel.
Wonderful in White is a great example of a great use of white lilies and other blooms.
Snapdragons are an excellent choice if you want a May spring flower that's a little more whimsical. There are more than 40 distinct colours, including single colours, pastels, bi-colours, and vibrant gem tones. They're great for aisle decor and bridal bouquets, as well as centrepieces. They're also not nearly as expensive as other blooms, such as bundles of roses. Although roses are well worth it, too, so we won’t steer you away if you enjoy them!
Snapdragons also pair well with other flowers, including lilies, roses, daisies, and more.
Our Sunny Memories Arrangement is a great example of how to pair snapdragons with other blooms.
Need a scentless floral option? Look no further than anemones! They're romantic while adding a more modern touch, making them a great option for arrangements and bouquets. For weddings, the white variety is a favourite of brides, but for those looking for something a little different, you can also find these flowers in bright red, pink, magenta, purple, and even blue! You can make your bouquet comprised completely of anemones, or you could mix them with a bit of greenery and even roses.
Speaking of, if you can't find anemones, you could find a similar look and feel with gerbera daisies. They have a similar shape and come in a variety of colours, meaning you can mix and match to fit your wedding theme.

Garden roses – If you want something a little different without compromising the regalness of traditional roses, these are a great option. These blooms combine elegance with rusticness, as these globe-like flowers pair the classiness of a rose with the natural element of a bloom you plucked straight from the garden.
Typical roses start as tight buds that eventually relax and sprawl out their petals. Garden roses are wider, more spherical blooms. They work excellently as bouquets but can be used in other applications, such as boutonnieres, corsages, or centrepieces. They can also be dried and preserved if you want to hold onto them as a fond memory.
However, if you can’t specifically find garden roses, you can still capture that freshly plucked-from-the-garden feeling by combining traditional roses with other flowers, such as daisies or hydrangeas. Daisies are commonly found in blooming spring fields, while hydrangeas capture that spherical and more natural essence of garden roses.
See our Basket of Dreams as a great example of how roses and hydrangeas work together!
Hey now, don't you dare turn your nose up at carnations! While being well-known as being affordable, carnations get a bad rap as being "cheap." However, their affordability doesn't take away their elegance in the slightest.
Carnations are by far one of the most versatile flowers and come in some of the most varied colour combinations you can find. From single colours, bi-colours, uncommon colours, pastels, gem tones, etc., carnations can be utilized to make amazing bouquets and arrangements that suit anyone's pallet. They can even be dyed to match your specific colour desires!
They also come in mini-varieties; mini carnations work the same as spray roses – they're more delicate, dainty, and sprawl out in bouquets and arrangements beautifully. What’s more, they can be used in almost any wedding floral application.

Don't let the name fool you, lilacs are available in both lavender and white. They're romantic and sweet-smelling flowers that give you the feeling they've been plucked straight from the field. They look amazing when paired with various greenery and are particularly popular in hand-tied bouquets.
If you can't find lilacs, don't worry; there are plenty of options you can use instead, such as snapdragons or even purple/white tulips. They both capture the essence of springtime, making them a perfect option if you can't find lilacs.
Check out our Springtime Tulips for a great example of how these blooms can be utilized!
Delicate and full of stunning fragrances, sweet peas are perfect if you want to have that classic boho wedding. They come in more colours than just pink and white; in fact, they come in a wide range of hues! They aren't a very cost-effective option, but if you're willing to take on the cost, they are not only beautiful in bouquets, but they are also easy to press and preserve.
If you can’t find sweet peas, you can opt for snapdragons or dahlias instead. They have a similar look and are more commonly found in your local flower shop.
Take a look at our Little Sweetie Arrangement for an example of a great use of pinks and snapdragons.
While orchids aren't often associated with the spring, when used properly, they actually make a great flower for a springtime wedding. A professional florist can make orchids work with your spring wedding, whether you opt for all white or other varieties of colours. They can be used to enhance almost any colour palette, and works optimally as centrepieces, although they can also be made into bouquets.

When it comes to creating the best spring wedding decor, flowers are where it's at. You can create a beautiful flower-lined wedding ceremony aisle to make the perfect backdrop for your vow exchange. You can truly make this special with large floral arrangements and tons of petals lining the walkway.
Sure, it’s tempting to go all out, but there’s elegance in very effortless or simple centrepieces. Instead of having multiple blooms, maybe feature a single flower in a single colour – such as a centrpiece of white tulips or white roses. This simplicity allows the rest of your wedding decor to stand out and offers a clean and crisp feeling.
Don’t get caught on the last part – we’ll explain shortly. But local florists can actually craft you flower necklaces for the bride, groom, and wedding party. These beautiful necklaces can be kept sacred after the fact. As well, if you opt to have your furry friends be a part of your wedding party, you can even see if they can custom fit a floral collar for your precious pet. How cool is that?
Custom archways are highly desirable for any wedding, and for spring weddings, a floral archway is a must. You can craft them around branches or lattice to create a stunning archway where you and your loved one can exchange vows. What’s more, you can colour-code it to match the theme of your wedding decor. Perfection.
